Everyone can feel the "UNSEEN POWER"

"UNSEEN POWER" or Prana or chi is that vital energy or life force which keeps the body alive and healthy. Follow these steps and with-in couple of days you can feel the difference.

Steps to feel the chi in your hands:

1) Place your hands about three inches apart facing each other and close your eyes or keep them half open. Do not tense, just relax.
2) Concentrate on feeling the center of your palms and simultaneously be aware of your entire hand for about five to ten minutes. At the same time, inhale and exhale slowly and rhythmically. Concentration is facilitated by pressing the centers of your palms with your thumbs before starting. It is by concentrating at the center of the palms that the hand centers are activated, thereby sensitizing the hands or enabling the hands to feel subtle energy or matter.
Eighty to ninety percent of you will be able to feel a tingling sensation, heat, pressure or rhythmic pulsation between the palms on the first try. It is important to feel the pressure or the rhythmic pulsation.

Just relax !

RISKY REFINED SUGAR

Excess of anything is dangerous. Indian preparations usually have sugar as a main ingredient for making delicious dishes. The sugar we use in daily life is refined. Bone char is often used in the sugar refining industry for decolorizing (brown to crystal white). Bone char is made by heating the bones of animals at very high temperatures. Refined sugar is a poison because it has been depleted of its life forces, vitamins and minerals. What is left consists of pure, refined carbohydrates. The body cannot utilize this refined starch and carbohydrate unless the depleted proteins, vitamins and minerals are present. Nature supplies these elements in each plant in quantities sufficient to metabolize the carbohydrate in that particular plant. There is no excess for other added carbohydrates. Incomplete carbohydrate metabolism results in the formation of 'toxic metabolite' such as pyruvic acid and abnormal sugars containing five carbon atoms. Refined sugar is lethal when ingested by humans because it provides only that which nutritionists describe as "empty" or "naked" calories. It lacks the natural minerals which are present in the sugar beet or cane.

Reasons to Avoid Sugar
Surely sugar tastes good, when you are used to eating diet that is high in processed foods. But once you start eating the sour-tasting fermented foods, you lose your cravings for sugar...and you are on your way to natural energy and greater health!

Here some of the dangers of consuming sugar:
  • Sugar upsets the mineral relationships in the body.
  • Sugar can produce a significant rise in triglycerides.
  • Sugar causes a loss of tissue elasticity and function, the more sugar you eat the more elasticity and function you lose.
  • Sugar can increase fasting levels of glucose.
  • Sugar raises the level of neurotransmitters: dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine.
  • Sugar can produce an acidic digestive tract.
  • Sugar mal-absorption is frequent in patients with functional bowel disease.
  • Sugar can cause premature aging.
  • Sugar greatly assists the uncontrolled growth of Candida albicans (yeast infections).
  • Sugar contributes to saliva acidity.
  • Sugar can cause a decrease in insulin sensitivity.
  • Sugar can lower the amount of Vitamin E (alpha-Tocopherol) in the blood.
  • Sugar can cause drowsiness and decreased activity in children.
  • Sugar can interfere with the absorption of protein.
  • Sugar can contribute to eczema in children.
  • Sugar can make our skin age by changing the structure of collagen.
  • High sugar intake can impair the physiological homeostasis of many systems in the body.
  • Sugar is enemy #1 of the bowel movement.
  • Sugar slows food's travel time through the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Sugar adversely affects urinary electrolyte composition.
  • Sugar can increase the amount of food that you eat by activating hunger hormone called “Ghrelin”.
  • Sugar induces salt and water retention.
  • The higher the sugar consumption the more chances of getting irritable bowel syndrome.
Sugar can cause more deleterious effects than listed here as human comprehension is limited!

Daily warm-up makes body supple

Minor accidents like bruises, spasms, minor fractures, ligament tears, etc. are common in the people who have a sedentary and inactive lifestyle. The person who does not have much or any physical activity also feels more sleepy during the daytime when compared to those who do physical activity regularly. Non-pharmaceutical alternative of many common aliments is a regular physical activity. Exercising at least 150 minutes a week can help people sleep significantly better and feel more alert during the day. However, if you can't do that much, don't give up - every little bit helps, especially as people age. The recommendations include things like a brisk walk, yoga, aerobics, taking a dance class, doubles tennis, etc. If you've been sedentary, build up gradually. In addition to the aerobic exercises, a muscle-strengthening activity at least two days a week is recommended for little intense activity.

Here, I have shown very simple exercises that can keep you brisk and active for whole day. These won’t take much time either. Just 20-30 minutes early in the morning or evening is optimal time.

Hope these exercises keeps you active and cheerful !

SPINE is the SECRET of LIFE

Indians call them "CHAKRA", Chinese call them " (Meridian)" and medically they are loci in the body where major nerves unify and electro-magnetic impulse is optimum. Chakras are conceptualized to be vortices according to traditional medicine, are believed to exist in the surface of the subtle-body of living beings. They are considered loci of life energy or prana, also called Qi (Chinese; ki in Japanese), Koach-ha-guf (Hebrew) & bios (Greek). There are seven to eight major and several minor chakras in the body. They govern our physiological, psychological and metaphysical properties. The chakras located on the lower part of our body are our instinctual side; the highest ones are our mental side. Chinese medicine advocates the similar system which is deeply integrated into their lifestyle.

The chakras can have various levels of activity. When they're "open," they're considered operative in a normal fashion. Ideally, all chakras would contribute to our being. Our instincts would work together with our feelings and thinking. In most of the children, chakras are open until the puberty. After which they start to close and in most of the adults, they are closed.

Before proceeding further we need to know something about the Spinal Column, as all the Chakras are connected with it. The body may be divided into three main parts: head, trunk and the limbs, and the centre of the body is between the head and the legs. The spinal column extends from the first vertebra, atlas bone, to the end of the trunk. The spine is formed of a series of 33 bones called vertebrae; according to the position these occupy, it is divided into five regions which corresponds to the five chakras (Muladhara, Svadhishthana, Manipura, Anahata and Vishuddha). And the other two are in the brain (Ajna and Sahasrara), as shown in the table below (along with the corresponding nerve plexus).

Imbalances in chakra leads to many kinds of diseases mentally and physically which was thoroughly studied by our ancestors. Each chakra is also associated with an endocrine gland in the body. The table below shows the associated gland, role played by each chakra and the results of imbalances in the chakra.

When someone knowingly or unknowingly say "Sit straight", they might don't know the benefits of it but making spine strong and supple by practicing some body postures (which I am gonna explain in the succeeding posts) can help remove many diseases. And each chakra is associated with a color and symbol (details not given).

Chakras can be opened and the energy can be made flow unhindered by two methods. One is by physical postures and exercises and other by meditating upon it. If we integrate physical exercises with meditation, we have the potential to initiate great healing.

Need for a healthy lifestyle!

In this hectic life, we seek comfort and luxury than healthy lifestyle, which promotes personal health (of body and mind). Biological clock of the most urban citizens has changed drastically, which made a decline in human health, adding to it the food now people want is heavy and western. Nothing wrong in all this, of course! However, keeping check on overdoing it might prevent many health problems what people are facing now. One of the most important and life-changing events that you can engage in is the process of setting the foundation for your healthy lifestyle choices.

One of the first things you have to really look at is... Are you doing this for you or for someone else? To be successful in your endeavors this has to be for you. Do not attempt to change your life because someone else wants you to, or asks you too because it doesn't work.

The questions that we need to ask ourselves are:

1. What are the benefits leading a healthy lifestyle?
2. What are the choices in a healthy lifestyle?
3. What is the danger not having a healthy lifestyle?
4. What things are needed for a healthy lifestyle?

Things that are to be taken care of-

Food choices:
Although this is not a new concept, I firmly believe you are what you eat.We all have a routine we follow for eating. Not every individual will eat the same foods. However, we can make healthier choices in our diet.
Making those choices will impact our health today, and just as importantly, will affect your health in future years.

Physical activity:
It is an open secret that a healthy diet and exercise reduce the risk of health-related diseases. Exercise adds longevity and health to your life. Even small improvements in your physical fitness lower the risk of disease. Achieving overall physical health requires work on your part and commitment. You need a rounded exercise training routine that has all the elements of good health regardless of where you choose to work out.

Sleep:
Medication is fast becoming a solution for insomnia, but it's only a short-term solution with side-effects. Stress can be a major factor in sleep disorders and applying different types of techniques. You can train your mind to relax and allow you to sleep.
Establishing a sleep pattern is very helpful. Train your body and mind to a time each night to sleep and a time each morning to awaken.

Substance abuse:
Substance abuse has to be mentioned because of the alarming rates of usage in today's world. Alcohol and drugs have become an escape for many people. Studies and research show the major impact this has on health. Smokers not only impact their own health, but the health of those around them.

Here is the chart for you to refer what is right in what amounts:

Lifestyle diseases are even more dangerous than HIV/AIDS according to doctors. India is in the line of fire and 60% of the world’s cardiovascular patients would be from our country. “Today, one-third of our population is obese. Children and adults, both in urban and rural areas, are increasingly becoming prone to lifestyle diseases”, said Dr. Kasliwal, Cardiologist, India. The mantra to beat the incidence of lifestyle diseases would be ASAP — Awareness, Screening, Action and Prevention.
